Latinx Student Groups

La Casa is home to over 15 different Latinx student groups, involving everything from dance and pre-professional groups, to Greek life and cultural groups. Below is a list of these groups; feel free to reach out to them with any inquiries!


Society of Hispanic Professionals Engineers (SHPE)

SHPE aims to empower the Hispanic community to realize its fullest potential and to impact the world through STEM awareness, access, support and development. Our club does a variety of events with community service, academic development, professional development, and social events.

Mujeres Empoderadas (ME)

Mujeres Empoderadas (M.E.) is a safe space inclusive to femme-identifying folks who identify with the Latinx and/or Hispanic cultural experience. Our mission is to encourage dialogue surrounding issues that affect Latina and/or Hispanic women, and provide them with the opportunity to share experiences, advice, and support. Above all, we seek to strengthen and empower the women in our community.

Istmo y Vos (I.Vos)

The mission of I.Vos is to provide support for Central American students at the University of Pennsylvania and to educate the larger Penn community on Central American history, culture and issues. Central America is politically, culturally, and economically significant both as a region and on a global scale. As Central American-identifying students at the University of Pennsylvania and in the U.S.A., it is crucial to remember the countries that influence our lives, culturally and socially.

Sigma Lambda Upsilon/Señoritas Latinas Unidas Sorority, Inc.

A Latina based, but not Latina exclusive cultural sorority aimed at providing a community for underrepresented women in the Penn Community through leadership, sisterhood, academic excellence, cultural enrichment, and Service to the community.

Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan (MEChA)

MEChA is a club meant to create space for Penn’s Mexican-American students or anybody else interested in our culture and struggles. Through MEChA, we hope to promote conversations about race, ethnicity, gender, etc.

Asociación Boricua (AB)

To create an inclusive space that allows students of all backgrounds to understand, appreciate, and explore Puerto Rican culture.

Penn for Immigrant Rights (PIR)

Penn for Immigrant Rights (PIR) is a social and political advocacy group dedicated to opening up the dialogue about undocumented immigrants and immigration in general. We strive to educate Penn’s campus and the Philadelphia community through demonstrations and workshops that seek to dismantle misconceptions about immigration

Wharton Latino

Wharton Latino is an undergraduate organization established with the purpose of promoting and bringing together the Latino community within the University of Pennsylvania. The club encourages a focus on professional, social, and community service initiatives by fostering them through the organization of various events, such as: our annual Valentine’s Day Rose Sale, Career Conference,  Freshman Dinner, among others. The club currently counts with around 200 active members, over 600 subscribers to the mailing list serve, and 20 sponsors.

Queer People of Color (QPOC)

Queer People of Color at University of Pennsylvania addresses issues that pertain to individuals who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or queer (LGBTQ+) and as persons of color by providing a safe social space.

Active Cross-Cultural Training in Our Neighborhoods (ACTION)

ACTION (Active Cross-Cultural Training In Our Neighborhoods) is a is a student-run Spanish tutoring organization designed to promote and celebrate linguistic and cultural diversity by mobilizing volunteers to work towards making foreign language and culture education pervasively accessible within their communities.

La Vida Magazine

La Vida Magazine is Penn’s only Latinx interest publication, established in 2001 as a short printed newsletter by the Cipactli Latino Honor Society of the University of Pennsylvania. We publish a variety of submissions, including visual art, poetry, prose, and critical essays. We celebrate the diversity of Latinx culture, and as such we strive to acknowledge Latinx voices on campus. As of 2017, we have expanded submissions to the entire Ivy League.

Onda Latina

Onda Latina, which means “Latin Wave,” is Penn’s first and only LatinX dance group. Our goal is to continue in the tradition of ONDA LATINA, as promoters of education, entertainment, and the true experience of dance: fun.

Cuban American Undergraduate Student Association (CAUSA)

The University of Pennsylvania Cuban American Undergraduate Student Association (CAUSA) aims to advance awareness of Cuban and Cuban American culture within the Penn community, and to provide an open space for the discussion of Cuban and Cuban American affairs. We dually strive to educate the campus community about the advancement of human rights in Cuba.

The Andean Representation (AREP)

The Andean Representation is an organization designed for the spread, advancement, and acknowledgment of Andean culture at the University of Pennsylvania. We are an all-inclusive organization aiming to provide a unique space for students identifying as Andean as well as those interested in Andean culture.

La Unidad Latina, Lambda Upsilon Lambda Fraternity, Inc.

La Unidad Latina, Lambda Upsilon Lambda Fraternity, Incorporated primarily seeks to take a leadership role in meeting the needs of the Latino community through academic achievement, cultural awareness, community service and promotion of the Latino culture and people. The Delta Chapter was Founded on April 24, 1988.


As an undergraduate organization, Mex@Penn works to foster the unity of students brought together by a passion and love for Mexico, as well as to share its culture with others at the University of Pennsylvania. From this our motto: “love of the motherland is our law.”


Fuerza is Penn’s first and only Latinx music group. Founded in 2019, our mission is to provide a safe space for students in the greater Philadelphia area to creatively explore Latinx culture through musical performance. We are Latinx inspired, not Latinx exclusive.

Lambda Theta Alpha (LTA)

The Beta Epsilon Chapter of Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Incorporated is poised to be at the forefront of creating alternative and inclusive spaces for students of color and members of our surrounding historically marginalized communities.

​Our chapter represents a group of diverse people who always strive for the highest level of excellence, as our founders intended. Shared goals and interests in areas of service, academics, and building solid relationships hold our chapter together and define who we are.

The Minority Association of Pre-Health Students (MAPS)

The Minority Association of Pre-Health Students (MAPS) is an organization that strives to create a supportive and encouraging environment in which minority Pre-Health students can thrive at Penn.
